Singer Amy Winehouse has developed early-stage emphysema as a result of smoking crack cocaine and cigarettes, and has been warned to quit using drugs, her father told the London Sunday Mirror.

"The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her," Mitch Winehouse said on Sunday, adding his daughter has only 70% lung capacity and an irregular heart beat.

The 24-year-old British soul diva was hospitalized last Monday after she fainted at her north London home. She remained in hospital all week.

She is scheduled to perform at a concert in London on Friday celebrating the 90th birthday of South African Nobel Prize-winner Nelson Mandela, and at the Glastonbury music festival the next day.

"The doctors have said that there isn't any medical reason why she can't do Glastonbury," Mitch Winehouse said.

Winehouse won five Grammy Awards in February.

Her career has thrived in spite of missed concerts and stints in drug rehab. The Sunday Times' annual Rich List has estimated her wealth at $20 million US.
