Ford names price on Fiesta tweaks

New performance upgrades are available for the Ford Fiesta ST. The Mountune kits come in two guises – one boosts power to 163bhp, via a new free-flowing exhaust and engine remap, and costs 1,435. The other cranks it up to 182bhp for 1,838, and can be added to a suspension upgrade and leather Recaro seats. That hikes its price to 17,989 – only 600 less than the entry-level Focus ST-1.

Styling house in shock move

Italian car design legend Pininfarina, responsible for many of the best-loved Ferraris, is looking for a slice of the new car market. Plans are underway to produce a four-seater electric vehicle to be sold under the firm’s name. The zero-emissions car uses long-life Lithium Metal Polymer batteries, and will go on sale in 2010.

Go online for top commuter tips

Motorists can now find out who shares the same commute to work. Sign up to www.keepmoving.co.uk and compare your favourite routes with those of other members. The site also lets drivers contact each other to share tips, traffic updates and even to organise car sharing. Members can sign up for SMS traffic alerts tailored to their route as well.

M-way drivers shown the way

Motorway signs being installed in the south west will help stranded drivers pinpoint exactly where they are. The new boards, which also show direction of travel and distance covered along the route, are to be erected at 500-metre intervals in both directions of the M4 (between J13 and into Wales), M5 (J15-31), M48 and M49.

Bag a big January bargain at G-Wiz

The electric G-Wiz city car is now even cheaper. British distributor GoinGreen is offering approved used models with 500 off, while ex-demo versions of the supermini start at 2,999. Other deals include a 600 saving on battery packs, while leather seats are thrown in for free on the flagship G-Wiz i. The offers end on 31 January. Visit www.goingreen.co.uk for details.
