Tick the heated and massaging car seat option when you order a Mercedes S-Class, and you’ll be shelling out a whopping 1,260. This Maplin Heated Massaging Car Seat cover isn’t as stylish as factory-fitted original equipment, but it costs only 30! Heated massaging seat cover is easy to useGranted, slip-on covers are normally reserved for minicabs, but this option is worth a try. It simply plugs into your 12V cigar lighter and warms up in no time at all.
The controls are on a remote unit that tucks into a pocket stitched to the side of the cover. There’s only one heat setting, so you have turn it on and off to regulate the temperature, but on colder days you can leave it on without it getting too hot.
The massaging function is great. There are vibrating pads for the legs, hips, back and neck, and a series of programmes that change the rhythm. It can be a little loud, but it really sorts out knots in your back.
However, the nylon material is cheap and you can’t wash it. Fitting is awkward, too, as on larger seats it tended to ride up.
