Any help you can get to keep back seat passengers entertained on a long road trip has to be a bonus. So when Hertz told us it’s now offering DVD player rental as an optional extra when hiring one of its fleet of cars, we knew we had to give it a try.
The system got off to a good start, as it’s neatly stored in a soft carry bag. Set-up couldn’t have been easier, either, as the player simply slipped into the cover, which in turn was placed over the headrest.
Power comes from rechargeable batteries or you can plug the player into the car’s cigar lighter socket. And if your passengers haven’t finished with a film, they can continue indoors using the mains lead. The set folds into an L-shape to rest on a table.
Even when we drove on bumpy roads, there was very little picture break-up from the seven-inch screen. Sound quality was crystal clear, too, although if you don’t want to distract the driver, a set of headphones is included. These are wireless, so there are no leads trailing across the cabin. As the cover hides some of the buttons on the facia, it was a great benefit that a remote control was thrown in, too. In fact, this DVD player is so good to use, you will want to keep it when you return your hire car.Bookmark this post with:FacebookDiggDeliciousFurlStumbleupon
