Hypercom CEO Kieper to Step Down

Payment technology company Hypercom Corp. said Thursday William Keiper will resign as chief executive and a member of the board of directors effective Aug. 15. The company didn't offer a reason for Keiper's departure in a press release. Calls to Hypercom (nyse: HYC - news - people ) for comment were not immediately returned. Additionally, the company said it promoted President Philippe Tartavull to chief operating officer, effective immediately. Hypercom said that until a new CEO is found, the company will be directed by an interim office of the chairman, comprised by Tartavull, Chairman Daniel Diethelm, and Chief Financial Officer Thomas Liguori. Ian Marsh, executive vice president and managing director of the Asia Pacific region for Western Union (nyse: WU - news - people ) Co., has been named to Hypercom's board.
