Vital Images Expects Lower 2Q Profit

Vital Images Inc., which makes medical visualization and analysis software, said Tuesday it expects its second-quarter profit to fall on disappointing sales from its distribution partners. The company also lowered its full-year revenue forecast. The company said preliminary results show it will earn between 2 cents per share and 5 cents per share, down from profit of 9 cents per share during the same period a year prior. Revenue is expected to range from $15.1 million to $15.4 million, compared with revenue of $16.9 million a year earlier. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect profit of 15 cents per share on revenue of $22.6 million. The company did not say when final second-quarter results would be available. Sales from both Toshiba (other-otc: TOSBF.PK - news - people ) and McKesson (nyse: MCK - news - people ) were disappointing, the company said. For the full year, the company now expects revenue of $75 million and $80 million, down from previous guidance of $90 million to $95 million. In 2006, the company had revenue of $70.5 million. Shares of Vital Images fell $1.17, or 4.2 percent, to close at $26.47.
