Bangkok hotel dishes out million-dollar meal

A Bangkok hotel is auctioning off seats to a dinner priced at $1 million US per person — an amount the hotel's chief executive says should bring some hope to financially pinched consumers around the globe.

Deepak Ohri, chief executive of the Lebua hotel, said the proceeds of the dinner will be given to charity.

"What's happening to the world economy is emotional," Ohri told Reuters in an interview.

"This can help boost confidence that there is money."

Ohri has recruited one Bollywood and two Hollywood stars — whose names have not yet been divulged — to work with chefs at the hotel's Mezzaluna restaurant to prepare the dinner for 10.

Ohri declined to name the six guests who have already agreed to attend the dinner.
