Boycott Petro-Canada, say locked-out workers in Montreal

Unionized workers at Petro-Canada's Montreal refinery are asking Quebecers to boycott the company's gas stations in support of their labour dispute.

The Quebec Labour Federation made the boycott call Thursday, after locked-out refinery workers overwhelmingly rejected Petro-Canada's latest contract offer earlier this week.

The six-year deal included 14 per cent salary increases in the first three years.

A majority of the 260 locked-out workers voted 95.6 per cent against the contract proposal.

Petro-Canada locked out workers 10 months ago. Management workers stepped into various positions at the east-end refinery to maintain operations.

The union said it is still interested in reaching a deal with Petro-Canada.
