Goody’s Family Clothing to file Chapter 11, close 103 sites

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Privately owned Goody’s Family Clothing Inc., a moderately priced retailer operating primarily in the Southeast, said yesterday it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will close 103 stores and an Arkansas distribution center.

The chain has 10 stores in Ohio, and plans to close those in Bowling Green, Defiance, Marion, Piqua, and Massillon. The company couldn’t immediately say how many of its 12,000 employees will lose their jobs.
