Health Canada expands Natural Factors Ltd. product warning

18.08.2008 15:00 Shopping - Source: cbc.ca

Health Canada on Thursday issued a warning advising consumers with milk allergies to avoid taking two health products labelled as non-dairy.

The federal agency said Natural Factors Super Strength Cal'dophilus (180 capsules) and Natural Factors Super Strength Cal'dophilus (90 capsules) contain trace amounts of milk protein.

People with allergies to milk may experience difficulty breathing, which in severe cases can be fatal.

Consumers with allergies should return the products to the retailer and contact a health care professional with any concerns.

Thursday's alert follows a similar warning issued last Friday for the following group of Natural Factors Ltd. products that were also listed as non-dairy:

  • Truly Premium All Naturals Acidophilus with Bifidus (50 capsules).
  • London Naturals Acidophilus with Bifidus (90 capsules).
  • London Naturals Acidophilus with Bifidus (180 capsules).
  • London Naturals Acidophilus with Bifidus (30 capsules).
  • Acidophilus with Bifidus & FOS — Webber Naturals (180 capsules).
  • Acidophilus with Bifidus & FOS — Webber Naturals (60 capsules).
  • Rexall Pro-Biotic (60 capsules).

In last week's alert, Health Canada said it had learned of one possibly associated anaphylactic reaction linked with the use of one of the Natural Factors Ltd. products.
