Norwalk factory cited for safety violations

NORWALK — Janesville Acoustics Inc., a division of the international firm Jason Inc., has been cited and penalized by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration for serious safety violations.

The firm, which manufactures acoustical fiber insulation for automotive applications, was cited for failures to provide safety training, safety equipment, and an overall safe workplace.

The penalties are $34,500 and must be paid by next month, but the firm has the right to appeal. A company spokesman was not made available for comment yesterday.
