09.10.2007 18:00 Sport and Travel - Source: USA Today

Each week during the season, readers can select their pick for USA TODAY's Player of the Week. Choices will be made available on Sunday night. The fan vote, open through noon ET on Tuesday, will comprise one-third of the award with one vote each also going to college football editor Erick Smith and Gannett columnist Mike Lopresti.

Northwestern quarterback C.J. Bacher threw for a career-high 520 yards and five touchdowns to earn this week's USA TODAY's Player of the Week honor. Bacher's performance helped the Wildcats beat Michigan State 48-41 in overtime. The signal caller won the award with the support of college football editor Erick Smith and Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti. Fan voting sided with South Carolina's Eric Norwood.
